CBD Dosage – How Much CBD Oil Should I Take?

CBD is an incredible therapeutic substance now used in the treatment of a wide range of diseases including cancer, migraines, Irritable bowel syndrome, and diabetes. Its potential as an antidepressant, antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and anticancer agent have been widely documented by a lot of researchers. As the awareness on CBD usage keeps increasing, there seems to be an increased concern on how much CBD is enough per dosage.

Although there is a general rule-of-thumb that suggests you take CBD oil one dropper at a time, research has shown that this is usually not enough and people who practice this may end up under-dosing. This is one of the major challenges faced by all CBD users and in this article, we shall give you detailed information on how best to determine your CBD dosage and how much your body can take.

First of all, there is need always to remember that CBD does not produce any adverse side effects in the body and the FDA is yet to publish any special information concerning the Daily Recommended Intake for the compound. CBD activity is largely affected by the availability of receptors, body chemistry, rate of metabolism, method of administration, the final concentration of the CBD in the body, the weight of the user and the nature of disease condition in question. Taking these factors into due considerations, we would recommend that you can take as much CBD as possible and should contact a CBD expert or your physician for the best counsel on what you need to do.

  1. Calculate your Body Mass Index (BMI)

Drugs are usually administered based on the mass to body ratio of an individual. The BMI is described as the ratio of the body’s mass or weight to the height of the individual. It is calculated using the formula below;

BMI= weight/(height)2  (kg/m2).

Depending on your body BMI, it is generally recommended to take 1-6mg of CBD for every 10 pounds of body weight and level of pain. The table below gives you an example of CBD dosage chart based on BMI.

The result obtained from the calculation of the BMI and level of pain should give you an idea of how your starter dosage should look like.

  1. Experiment with dosage:

Determining the best CBD dosage follows a trial by error process. To obtain the best dosage, it is safer to experiment with the concentration after determining your starter dose. Always start from the least possible value until you experience the best effect in your body system. The increase in concentration or dosage should be uniform to monitor your body’s response after taking the product.

Since our body chemistry differs, doing this will lead you to the best dosage which is not only perfect for your body weight but also takes into cognizance, your body chemistry, level of pain and type of sickness being treated.

  1. Interact with your physician

Since your physician understands your body chemistry and health history, he or she is always in the right position to determine the best CBD dose for you. Make sure you always keep them in the know before trying out any product. This will give them enough time and opportunity to provide you with the right medical counsel on how to obtain the best results from your medication.
